Sweet Peony Paper Flower Wreath: A Beginner-Friendly Cricut Project

Sweet Peony Paper Flower Wreath: A Beginner-Friendly Cricut Project

Just in time for Mother's Day — and yes, you can absolutely finish it in an afternoon.

I have been dreaming about this project for weeks, friends. There is something about a hoop wreath dripping in hot pink paper peonies that just makes me want to cancel my plans, pour a coffee, and curl petals all afternoon. So I'm thrilled to tell you that on Tuesday, May 5 at 2pm est, we are making the Sweet Peony Paper Flower Hoop Wreath together LIVE on YouTube — and from now through Sunday, the variety pack and SVG are available as a bundle.

👉 RSVP for the live · 👉 Shop the Variety Pack · 👉 Add the SVG

🎁 Bundle Week 5/1–5/7: Add the Sweet Peony Variety Pack and the Sweet Peony SVG to your cart and the SVG cost comes off automatically at checkout. No code, no hoops. After 5/7, both items are sold separately.

Whether you've been following along through every paper flower project I've shared, or this is your very first Cricut craft, you are in the right place. This wreath is forgiving, photogenic, and giftable — three of my favorite craft adjectives.

Why you'll love this project

  • 🌸 Beginner-friendly — if you can curl a strip of paper, you can make these peonies
  • 💐 Perfect Mother's Day gift — finish Tuesday, gift Sunday
  • 🏡 Reusable home decor — tuck it on a wall, a mantel, or a covered porch
  • 🎀 Fully customizable — swap colors for any season, palette, or vibe
  • Bundle pricing this week — get the cardstock and the cut file in one go (5/1–5/7)

Step-by-step: Sweet Peony hoop wreath

Step 1: Grab the bundle

Add the Sweet Peony Variety Pack and the Sweet Peony SVG to your cart through 5/7 and the SVG cost will come off at checkout automatically. After your order, you'll get the cardstock in the mail and the SVG in your inbox.

Step 2: Upload the SVG to Design Space

Open Cricut Design Space → Upload → drop in the SVG. Resize to fit your hoop. For a 10" hoop, I keep the full design at about 9" wide so the flowers cluster on one side.

Step 3: Cut your cardstock

The variety pack is pre-coordinated, so just match each color in Design Space to its sheet. Tap Make It, load each mat, and let your Cricut work its magic. Pro tip: do all your cutting first before you sit down to assemble.

Step 4: Curl the petals (the secret sauce)

This is where flat paper turns into a peony. Using the side of a bone folder (or even a rolling tool), gently roll the top edge of each petal back. Do not flatten — you want a soft, natural curl. The slight inconsistency between petals is what makes the finished bloom look real.

Step 5: Assemble the blooms

Working from the largest petal layer to the smallest, glue each layer into the center using the Art Glitter adhesive. The dries-clear formula is forgiving and will not warp the cardstock. Add the tiny center bud last and let it dry fully cupped.

Step 6: Add leaves

Glue 2-3 dark green leaves behind each bloom, fanning them so they peek out at different angles. Resist the urge to make them symmetrical — wild is prettier.

Step 7: Mount onto the hoop

Lay the embroidery hoop flat. Arrange your peonies in a crescent on the bottom-left curve. Once the layout looks right, attach with hot glue.

Step 8: Add the glitter banner

The "simply sweet" banner goes in the open inner space of the hoop. Hang it on twine or glue it directly to the back of the largest peony so it floats slightly.

Step 9: Hang and gawk

You did it. (And please tag me — @ashleeyfalco — I love seeing your work.)

Color variations

The Sweet Peony palette works in any color story:

  • Soft + romantic: blush, ivory, sage
  • Moody: deep burgundy, navy, gold
  • Fall: burnt orange, mustard, deep brown
  • Holiday: cranberry, hunter green, gold glitter
